Well, it was looking pretty bleak. Even though I had a very small goal for December for Melissa and Shanna's A Lovely Year of Finishes, I was getting nervous that I wouldn't have time to finish replacing the leg casing elastic on a measly four cloth diapers. December has been full of gift buying, gift wrapping, photo book designing, spending time with family and of course, Evelyn rocking. She definitely doesn't take enough naps by herself... but we're working on it!
Through it all, I did finish my goal. These four diapers are back in the rotation! (And all my gifts are boughten and wrapped!)
I was so surprised to receive an email from Carol, saying that I won this lovely charm pack (THANK YOU!). You know how there's some fabric you receive and you kindly set it aside for the right project or at least until you have more time to design the right project... and then there's some fabric that you need to cut into right away?
Well, as you can see by the paper already being torn, this charm pack already has a project planned for it! And if you follow me on instagram, you saw that I've already cut and sewn with it a little bit! (Cold days can get old, but cold days here mean that Dan doesn't have to be outside allll the time and that he can watch Evelyn a bit while I get my sewing fix taken care of!).
Anyways, stay tuned... I think a table runner or two will be my January goal!
She loves peek-a-boo, splashing in the bathtub, and hearing herself jabber and squeal.
She loves playing the piano, banging on toys, and climbing on everything.
She can slooooowly walk herself along the couch/ottoman/boxes in the basement.
We're still working on helping her enjoy solid foods. She does love to pick up peas/noodles/rice and put them in her mouth during mealtimes, though... so she is kind of getting the hang of it!
Since she loves sucking/chewing on Mom's Camelbak water bottle so much, we bought her a sippy cup with a straw. We mostly just put water in it, but today she did have some expressed milk. Some of it still dribbles out of her mouth, but for the most part, she can get liquid from something other than me :) Viva, Evelyn!
She loves paper. I found the first bits of chewed up paper in her dirty diaper today. Let the fun begin ;)
Faces are her favorite... anything that has eyes will get a smile, giggle and squeal from her...
Naps are still a process. She's still waking up a few times at night. This is always worse when she has a cold. Thankfully, she's finally getting over one that she's been fighting since Thanksgiving.
No new teeth, but I think she'll be getting more on the bottom soon.
She's starting to be shy and bashful around people she doesn't see on a regular basis.
She's starting to whimper when people she wants to be with leave the room. This happens more often when she is tired of being with me!
We're still working on how to go down stairs. She thinks going head first is the way to go (don't worry, she hasn't actually tried this yet!).
December will be another busy month, and I just can't seem to get organized with a little one and while living with my in-laws... so, my goal is to simply repair four cloth diapers! I need to take out the side elastic and sew the new elastic in (they're stretched out which leads to leaks since they don't fit as well around Evelyn's legs). We'll see if I get the velcro tabs replaced as well... that would be a bonus!
On top of that I need to send out the Christmas cards (pictures ordered, letter copied, and envelopes addressed... need to sign the letters and put the stamps on) and wrap presents!
I couldn't leave you with such a boring post... so here's a cute picture of Evelyn learning all about Daddy's new tools! He went with his dad on Black Friday to take advantage of some great deals on wrenches and screwdrivers and... gasp... new jeans!
