We Love Our Northern Neighbors

We live in a little subdivision outside of city limits. Our house is on the edge of said subdivision, so while we have houses across and beside us... here's what we have on the north side of us :)

It's like we never left the farm!

See, there they are, just on the other side of the fence. 

I like our new friends :) and so does Evelyn... she can see them while we eat sometimes. She pointed and said "moo." 

Good girl :)

Part Time Farmers

We may have moved, and Dan may have gotten a new job, but that doesn't mean we're not still farmers!

We are still close enough to the family farm that we can go there on the weekends. In particular, he'll be sure to help out with harvest and planting.

I'll still enjoy documenting farm life... even if we're not there all the time.

So, we may have moved physically away from Frog Creek, but this blog is staying On the Banks of Frog Creek :)

For A Baby Shower {Baby I-Spy Quilt}

Other than making a few burp cloths, I'm ready for a baby shower... A good friend who lives several states away is coming home for a baby shower, and I cannot wait to see her in all her baby-bump glory! 

She is excepting a boy in July, so I made a boy-themed I-Spy quilt :)

Really, it's only boy-themed because I didn't add any tiaras or fairies, but I still added one or two pink and purple squares... even a boy needs to know what color pink is!

During the photo shoot, Evelyn was just walking, walking everywhere. She ended up going halfway down this hill before falling :)

 The backing is pieced... some Very Hungry Caterpillar fabric with some rainbow stripes from Dan's grandma's stash. The binding is a different rainbow stripe that also came from Dan's grandma. I already have a Very Hungry Caterpillar book to add to the gift bag, too.

 After I finished taking pictures, we went to check on the yearlings. They were huuuungry!!!

Of course, when we were checking on the cattle, Little E decided to go out in the unplanted corn field by herself. Sigh. We need to teach her direction soon, or else she's going to be one of those kids who walks into a fully-grown field and gets lost... She just loves to explore!

It Feels So Good!

It feels so good to be home!!

 We arrived early Saturday morning (we drove through the night, since Evelyn finally slept once it got dark out), and we unloaded the last item on Sunday afternoon. We are living with Dan's parents on the home farm, since we'll be in charge of the cattle - they're still deciding if they want to buy or build, but they wanted us home to help with the upcoming harvest.

 

 Here come the steers!

On Saturday, Dan's dad, Tim, was at a football game, so Dan was in charge of feeding these boys. Jumping right into the farm life!

 

Just while walking around this past weekend, I'm getting so excited to take pictures! Don't get me wrong, Montana had beautiful scenery, but I love the prairies and I love the farm scenes... especially in the early mornings. Of course, I haven't been up early enough yet to get really good pictures, but I'll get around to it :)
